Thanks guys for your advice, by the way Zante, plenty of spaces for shrimplets to hide in my tank, boxwood, coconut cave, moss balls and quite a few plants. But not an issue for me at the moment to worry about that.
Will cross that bridge if or when come across any problems!!
Went to 4 differnt LFS for threadfins today!! 3 of them had only 1 or none of Threadfins, no Red Cherry shrimps. Until went to Maidenhead Aquatics in Croydon.
Wayhey, thay had all of what i wanted 15 Thredfins, 2 assassin snails but only 6 Red Cherry Shrimps, but that'l do just fine I thought.
Made a bit of a newbie mistake when got home with the fish, I forgot to ask for males only as not planning to have fry, but at the moment it seems I have 5 males and 10 females, I think. difficult to be sure as the fish keeps moving about!! lol But will leave it at that as I think all looks good and makes for a bit more interesting tank.
The shrimps are great to watch, I bought the last 6 in the shop and 3 are older red ones, 1 juvenile a mix of white and red and 2 little ones which don't have any colour yet.
As soon as they got in tank the little ones disapeared and have not seen them since, hiding I suspect or just darn hard to see!! The 3 red older ones are everywhere in the tank, great to watch. Thought all would be hiding for a day or two until they get their condidence and know way around the tank. No, with 10 minutes the red shrimps are moving everywhere and exploring everything
Now, the Threadfins, lovely little fish, looks small in the tank but know they will grow a bit yet. But interesting to watch the different individual characters. Most shoaled at at first, one or two hid amongst the plants and not moved from there for a while, one was a small male.
But as time passed they all sort of scattered around the tank and explored their new surroundings and looking for food and pecking at the plants and glass eating whatever was there! I took that as a good sign.
Assassin snails are somewhere at the back of the tank, managed to get glimpses of them but could not get a pic of them as too blurry on my camera!! Anyway you know what assassin snails looks like anyway
All in all, a good day methinks.
