High Nitrite Levels

Thx. for the suggestions. All params are dead on except for the Nirites. My tank is a month old & it should have cycled by now. I've reduced the stock to just the CT-Betta & moved the rest to a bigger tank. Did a water change & retested the water 6 hours later. So far so good. I just don't understand why the rest of the params are normal & I have a Nitirte spike.

Thx.

The nitrite spike is normal in a cycling tank and is the part that takes the longest to come down. If you don't have any kind of live plants, it should take your tank 4 to 6 weeks to cycle. Cycling with fish is no different other than the fish are the ones creating the ammonia rather than you adding it from a bottle. Just keep up the water changes and you should be cycled soon.

rdd,
Thx for the info. I will keep up with the water changes. So will a airstone help? If it does I will get some tonight. How about adding Bio Spira? Will that help in the cycle process.
Thx.

The airstone will probably help. Anything that causes surface aggitation is good/ I'm not really very knowledgable about the bacteria additives like Bio Spira although most of what I have read seems to point to that one as the best.
