Hello, my name is Tim and I am new here, I live in Lincoln UK and just acquired an aquarium and starting it up .. I had few before but this time I am trying to do it by the book

Welcome! If you're doing it by the book, you'll be reading an entire library's worth of books lol. Everything depends on the type of fish you want to keep, the tank you have, and the look you're going for!
First thing's first, cycling your tank before you get into the thick of it, like @Slaphppy7 said! The forum has plenty of categories and threads that you can look through as you're starting up to help you on your way.
