It was from a beach 7 months ago.

There a few steps you should take when you add rocks you find outside to a tank.
First is to make sure the rock is safe for an aquarium. Sprinkle a little vinegar on it and see if it fizzles or foams. You can also test the water after adding them.
You want to make sure they won't crumble or have sharp edges.
Then you should scrub the rocks with water and a toothbrush (Don't use soap). Then sterilize them with a bleach dip, hydrogen peroxide dip, or boiling them.

Update: They are still alive which I am completely shocked about I changed the aquarium completely because the previous design only offered a few hides.
