I will have to agree with everyone on it being a glass fish. As for it being a ghost fish, IMO I don't think so. I have never seen a painted ghost fish through the years (wow, I must be getting old) but maybe someone else here has. Welcome to the hobby, and if you every have any questions, there are plenty of nice folks here who are always willing to help.

Take care,
Mogo

Comments:

Here's the painted variety.
Photo taken at Bill's Pet Shop © Petfish.netThese are the fish you sometimes see in petshops with neon or dayglow stripes painted on their sides. Yes, the stripes are actually painted on, and will soon fade away. Seems like a sneaky thing to do, in my opinion. But the Glassfish are still an interesting fish, their body is almost clear, which is a novelty, and they are an excellent schooling species. They enjoy having a teaspoon or two of salt per gallon in their water, and would thrive in a semi brackish environment.

You said they like salt. Do ui have to get special salt? and what over fish can go in with it. I dont want to get fish that don't like salt.

My tank is a 3ft tank with the one glass fish.

Hi! Welcome to the forum and I also think it is a painted glass fish. I don't think that there are many more fish that are see through other then the glass fish and I also agree that I would try and return it becuase injecting it with paint like other people said, gives it a short lifespan. If it dies, I would buy a REGULAR glass fish. ANd you will know why it died.

Ive grown quite atached to the little fella. And id like him to enjoy the rest of he's days well cared for...so giving him up is not an option. Can i mix any other fish with him he looks so lonley all by himself.

Glassfish like semi brackish water but don't require it, same as mollies. They are just usually found where fresh water mixes with the sea , The mix of that section of fresh and salt water is called brackish if I am wrong please someone correct me :p
