I bought three bettas about three weeks ago.
Unfortunately a week later one died & then last week the other one died.
Where I bought them they were in a tank with 'female bettas' written on them.
Anyways,
This morning I woke up & found a bunch of babies swimming everywhere.
I don't know how she got pregnant, but she did.
& I don't know what to do next.

There wasn't any bubble nest, as I've read, or anything like that.

This is the first time I've bought bettas & the first time any fish has given birth.
So I really don't know what to do.

Ah yes, do I take the big betta out?

Please help.
Thank you.

First Hi and welcome to the forum. As far as know bettas build a bubble nest to lay there eggs in so dont know how just one day you have babies?
How many fry do you think you have?

.. Wow, uhm.. Well...
I'm a little confused, being that bettas aren't livebearers and require a male to lay eggs, which take a few days to hatch into fry.
So unless you had a male in with your female (I hope you didn't, and I also hope you didn't have 3 females/or males) in one tank.
3 females ins't enough for a sorority and 3 males or 2 females and 1 male would kill each other. It could be that's why your's died, if you had them together..
So, what size is your tank, and did you have all three of them together?
It's not uncommon that a plakat male will be confused for a female and make it's way into a sorority.
Do you have any pictures?

wow thats a bit strange have ya got eny pics if your first time betta owner its possible you could have knot seen the sexes of them aspecialy in lfs's they probably where kept together love to see some pics

Um, yes. I had all three bettas in one tank. & I learned the hard way that it's wrong.
The tank is pretty small, maybe 3 gallons.

My first reaction was to feed them, they seem to like the flakes.

3 gallons is to small for a sorority just 1 betta, but i guess youve got no choice now :hyper:

Sure do look like fry.. Hrm.. Well, this is going to be an issue for you.
You need to have a 10 gallon growout tank, MINIMUM for betta fry.
And once they reach a few weeks of age, they'll possibly begin fighting.
it's reccomended you jar every individual betta fry individually to keep fighting down.
And yes. 3 gallon is only allowable for 1 female betta.
You need atleast 10 gallons for a sorority because you need atleast 4 females for a sorority.
6 is better, though.
My advice is to grab a large plastic bin (Anything atleast 10 gallons..) clean it out, fill it with treated water and some live plants, if you have any, and prepare to raise some fry.

Edit regarding the guppy/betta confusion: In this case, you won't need to seperate them, but you will need a much larger tank..
