if i could get some info here on yoyo loaches that would be great! :D :grr:

Here is a profile on them. Try asking in the Cyprinids, Characins and Atherinids section too.

One thing in that profile is wrong, it states that the max size in an aquarium is 3". I have three Yoyos and the smallest is about 3 1/2" inches the other two are a bit over four inches. They are in a 29gal that was somewhat overcrowded. I hope they will get a little larger when I move them to the 125gal in a few days. Very lively and a lot of fun to watch.

>>> the max size in an aquarium is 3".

It's more wrong then that! There are at least 2 members here, me included, that have these at 150mm/6". They are not overly aggressive, but should not be kept with very small fish. Should be kept in groups of at least 3 fish, so a suitably sized tank is necessary.

They are scaleless, so there should not be salt in the tank and if medicating, be sure to use medications which are suitable for loaches, many dye based preparations will poison them.

They appreciate a lot of caves, holes and other hiding places, the more hiding places they have, the safer they feel so perversly, the less they hide. They will eat pretty much anything, sinking pellets/wafers, frozen blood worm etc. variety as always is the key to healthy nutrition.

another thing about yoyos - they can jump!!! make sure you have a lid on your tank. we didnt have a lid for a while & every night for a week we could hear them skipping across the top of the water & kept getting out of bed at 3am expecting to find one of them on the floor having jumped out!!! luckily we didnt but it was quite nerve racking the splashing noises they made, it was very loud & we could hear them through 2 closed doors in our bedroom- had a few sleepless nights till we got a lid sorted!!!!
also when theyre young they head for little hidey holes like filter outlets - we sadly lost a yoyo a couple of years ago who swam into our filter outlet & got stuck & died :( good idea to cover outlets with a bit of old stocking (pantyhose to the folks from usa) & a rubber band till they grow too big for the crevices
great characters we love our 2 :)

Yeah, one of my Yoyos got stuck behind the filter twice but I guess he learned his lesson and stopped trying to get back there. The Yoyos are loving the 125gal. I put in a couple caves including a two story dwelling. Last night they were all lined-up side by side at the entrance of the top level as if they were looking out from a balcony enjoying the view  really funny!

I love yoyo's and plan to put a group into my new tank once its cycled... I here they can grow to around 10" which is smaller than the Clown Loach which can grow to 15" of course, this is at a rate of 1-2" per year..

They are absolutely gorgeous, and my LFS has these, i cant wait to get some :D
