If wanting something a bit more specialised then tingley aquatics not been in ages to tingley so may be shut. MA in Carr bottom garden centre, just off m1 Wakefield turning. Think it's call paws for thought on York Rd, used to be a pub

Yes I’m aware of all these places. I’m still really struggling with what to stock in my tank. New to the hobby and in my mind I thought I’d be able to get quite a few colourful fish however with our water here in leeds seems I’m stuck with getting tetra’s, neons, rasboras and maybe a pair of apistogramma’s. I love the green neons but looks like it many people have them ? honestly at the rate I might just end up with an empty tank as I’ve spent hours and hours and still can’t make my mind up ?

get a list of what you want, then go out to 1 shop and 1 shop only (so they may not have all your list)

agree to buy 1 or 6(if shoaling fish) of 1 type and that then will get you going.

i bought 8 serpae tetra, so that was going to be my main fish group. have added julii cory and some ottos. got some neon's in there as they were bagged with the next lot of serpae, now 15 of them

Your fish won't mind the messy look at all- plenty of cover. In the end, the best fish tank is not about aesthetics but what's best for the inhabitants.
