Hi All New To The Site

hi all thaught i post a hello post as im new to the site

My dad Has had a few fisktanks And ive taken up the hobby after him

im 26 and currently have 2 tanks , 1 bigish tank and one small one i have a few plattys in one tank wich have produced about 7 babies ,

in my bigger tank i have 2 cat sharks i think they are but if somebody can confirm that would be brilliant


Here is my first fish im unsure about So if anyone can help that waould be amazing

I have 2 of these and one of them seems to be hiding in the plants And the outher one we have seems to be pushing The Sharks Away from where the fish is resting mostly

i Love This Pic It seems it was poseing lol

The Sharks I Have i Belive Are Cat Sharks Im not 100% on this as im new to this kinda thing , but always willing to learn Hers the pic i have of them

If Anyone Can confirm this for me it would be amazing

Also the "sharks" are really jumpy And tend to go a bit mad when i turn the light on And sometimes get stunned



Any help would be great and ill be posting a lot on these forums


Is there anybody from wales on the forums

looks like
Pangasius Catfish or Iridescent Shark Catfish

if so these can grow to 4foot plus!


so would rehome them

Hope you enjoy the forums, there are a lot of great members on here!

I once went on a little train up on top of a mountain to look at the sea (Snowdonia?) in Wales and it was beautiful!

yup definately pangasius catfish, thiese fish should not be in the trade at all, they're cute as a button when they're babies like you have now, but take a look what they grow into

these really belong in a public aquarium, you're best to ring round the ones local to you and see if anyone can take them off your hands.

the first fish is a tilapia mariae i have a breeding pair of those these also get huge my male being 13 inches and still growing the will soon lose those stripes and form large dots

how big is the tank i suggest at least 70-80 gals

i may have found The name of it what do you think ? This is what it says

Nile tilapia collected from the aquaculture facility on Mississippi coast (Davis Bayou).

Also the Bigger tilapia mariae Seems to be pushing the smaller one into a corner hiding behing my plants and not letting it move is this normal behavour do you think ?
