Hi there!
My name is Jessa, and I've been keeping fish for just over a year.
I have four fish tanks at the moment (not including my boyfriend's 5-gal tank), but will be buying myself an 18-gal soon, bumping my number up to 5.
My Tanks (In order of "appearance")
10 Gallon
- 10 tiger barbs
5 Gallon Hex
- 1 mama guppy (Metallic Blue) and her babies
29 Gallon
- 1 Plecostomus
- 1 Betta
- 1 Common Goldfish (my very first fish -- been through hell and is still the healthiest fish I've ever seen!)
- 2 Albino Rainbow Sharks
- 2 Lyretail Swordtails (Orange) (Female = PREGNANT)
- 1 Lyretail Molly (Black)
- 1 Glass Catfish (practically invisible... keeping forgetting I have it!)
5 Gallon Bowfront
- 1 Senegal Bichir (wasn't compatible with anything else I had, so I had to get him his own tank!)
My 18 Gallon will be turned into a cichlid tank. I've been wanting to keep cichlids for MONTHS now and haven't ever gotten around to it!
On top of my four fish tanks, I also work with fish in a freshwater laboratory for my campus's biology department, taking care of Red Shiners, Convict Cichlids, and Green Sunfish.
I also work in the museum of natural history taking care of the fish, reptiles, and amphibians. Our fish there include: Convict Cichlid, Pacu, Piranha, African Lungfish (NEAT creature!), Long-nosed Gar, Green Sunfish, Sand Shiners, Red Shiners, Mosquitofish, Fathead Minnows, Largemouth Bass, Large snapping turtle (oh, not really a fish...), bullheads, and more.
THEN, I've got my boyfriend's 5-gal that includes: 1 betta, 1 albino rainbow shark, and 1 kuhlii loach (I WANT SOME).
My life is all about fish, basically. Home, work, school (I'm in Wildlife and Fisheries).... but I love it!
I'm looking forward to meeting you all, but for now I've gotta run! You'll see me on the boards soon.
