I recently got a lemon tree, so I turn on my humidifier at times. Today, I happened to turn on my humidifier and sit next to my marble betta. Practically right before my eyes, his color darkened inside 8 minutes, and now his tale is blue. Oo I know he changed color because I was looking at him and thinking how his tail was quite dalmation like, and it reminded me of The Royal Tennenbaums, and the kid with the dalmation mice. I actually did a 'disgusting' thing and cooed at him that hes cute, and while I was admiring him, his tail turned peacock blue. In fact, if I had to compare his tail to anything now, it would be a peacock's tail.

ALL of his colors are darkening right before me.

I looked at my other betta, to see if he felt like showing off too, he was definately darker, but since he's naturally dark red, the end result is less flashy. It's so hard to photograph a before and after. >< I don't know how you all do it.

I know I declared when I first got him that he was white with sort of an Easter egg color to him, and he changed color on the trip home. Someone on here said it had to be the angle of the light changing, because bettas don't change that fast, but this time I watched it. :hyper: I'm not going crazy!

I feel like I just spotted a Yetti or a UFO.

I tried and tried, and then my battery died. :X

I imagine he's just sensitive to the changes in humdity and air pressure, like BrookeLea in this thread. Getting all excitied and stuff, honestly, I've enver seen him swim around so much, normally he's kind of a sulky, still little guy. Oddly enough, my red betta, who is normally very active, is very still.

Clearly, they have traded bodies.

well i really don't think the fish would be sensitive to humidity... cuz they're already in water... and 100% humidity = rain.... so i don't think fish can be sensitive to humidity as their environment would be considered 100% humidity.

Actually they can. From what alot of breeders say the best time to get their fish to spawn is right after a good rain. The humidity and pressure trigger a breeding response from them.

Bettas breathe air..so what goes on around them does affect them..not just what's going on in their water alone.

And marbles can change colors fast like that...they just don't do it all the time. 9 times out of 10 they go from light to dark though.

Horray, I am believed.

Yeah, after looking at my 'before' pictures, I've noted that he did have some blue in his tail, but only very faded. Most of his coloring simply became very dark.

As lovely as he was, and is, what I'm the happiest about is watching him actually swim around. He was so still before, no matter what size container I put him in - from 2.5 to less than 1g, he never seemed happy in his home. Warmer, colder, with plants and without. At last, he's moving around. I just like to see them swim, you know?

But that peacock tail is really fabulous.

Here's a little something for you....

I'm sure. #1 I don't think Sorrell would lie to us, and $2 look at the tail. It still has the exact same Ray pattern.

Marbles *are* kinda crazy, I would not be suprised at all! He's probably enjoying the humidity =D

I noticed drastic darkening in all 5 of the marbles girls I recieved from AL, within a day after they arrived! It was a really similar change to Sorrell's post... the black marbling started to show up much more ~ except on Pinky, she's still pink  I love marbles though, they're always a suprise!
