Wait. How do we maintain pH of water? I mean make it hard and soft according to our fishes that is.
 
What product do you recommend I use then? To treat water?
There is two off the top of my head that are really good, one is API aqua essentials and two is seachem prime. The API one is better though because it releases what they use in the chemical while seachem doesnt

GH (hardness) is more important than pH.

If the water is soft it can be made harder by adding the hardness minerals by using things like Rift Lake salts. If water is hard it can be made softer by mixing it with pure water such as reverse osmosis water. Both of these mixtures (soft water & Rift Lake salts, and hard water & RO water) have to be prepared before they are added to the tank.
But if you want to keep both hard and soft water fish it means 2 tanks. One with soft water for soft water fish and one with hard water for hard water fish.

Its always best to just keep species suited to your water instead of adding a ton of chemicals/minerals. I have no experience making water hard but I think using rocks that dissolve such as limestone make water hard...
