I have been looking at these in the LFS for 2 months now. And after Advice from SirMinion I bought a pair of them today.

They are the most personable little critters i have ever seen. exploring evertying and amazing escape artists always trying to crawl as high as possible.

They are in a 2Gallon Long Acrylic Tank that sits next to my Luminaire on the 90G so get ambient heat from below and light from the luminaire.

They have Black Moon sand. and mature water from the tank.
They have eaten a Spirulina Pellet each ans ome vallis nad lilly pads and riccia and moss this evening. They will have a very varied diet as advised and be given pleanty of excersize. I might get them a Hamster ball to play in and explore the house in. Like in Malcolm in the middle with the Hamster who went off to explore the world in his ball.

God im jelous! Cracking photos of great inverts.
I love Land hermits, ever since seeing them at a show ive really wanted some to keep with my other inverts. Any idea on scientific name? There are a few species out there to my knowledge.

Thanks Guys,

They already have distint personalities.
Hermes is the Boss and Hermoine is the Shy one who hides alot.
Hermes is not afraid of me and will climb around on my arm happily trying to eat me.     :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun: :fun:

From what i have read and watching them in the LFS and advise given and read they are easy to care for and are very greagarious.
Google hermit crabs.com and there is a wealth of info.

They are tucking into Breakfast right now.
Cherry tomatoes and Baby Carrots.

Mum and the Wife has said that these can be My Substitute Dogs as they are so Coool and easier to care for than a Dog

Nice looking hermits. I have 6 they live in a 45 x 45 x 45cm terrarium had mine about a year and a half now i love watching them.

thanks guys,
I love them so much. They are so Mischaevous and explore everything.

I am taking them round to one of my Account Managers this afternoon as her kids want to see them.
Plus i am setting up a planted tank for her.

Hermes is the cutest little trouble maker ever.
Last night he managed to climb out of his tank. And make it all the way thru the house up the staors into my room and iup the bed.
Narinder came up to find him on my ear and nibbling away at me. he had drawn only a tiny amount of blood.
How cute is that, I know they have and excellent sense of smell, but he was amazing.

just ordered some lovely new shells for them this morning. Hope they arrive soon, as his shell looks al little small for him.

Gotta love them! Remind me of my cockroaches, completly different personallitlies for each one.

Yeah So cool, i know i will end up with loads of them - I think i may keep the Divided 4*2*2 for them and have other something else on the other side.

Killer hermit crab!!! Sounds blood thirsty ;)

I'm amazed he didn't fall into the huge lagoon his tank is sitting on!

Oh he is very clever indeed. Looks like he came down from the tank using the Dyson to climb Down and the scuttled his was following my scent trail.
He was lucky very lucky indeed.

Unfortunately these aren't pet hermits, but these are some of the ones I found whilst in Zanzibar this Easter, they were mahoosive.
