How about Peckoltia brevis?

Ahh yes, that's a Gibbiceps Pleco very nice looking. However it looks a lot like a Gold Nugget Pleco like the ones I see in my lfs.

I still think its a Gibbiceps, but fish keeper sharks and mollies tells me its not so I suggested Peckoltia brevis. Definitely not a Golden Nugget though-

Golden Nugget :)

Def. not a Peck. brevis.

One of my book references does refer to the gibbiceps as a 'brick-red beauty', altho....

Here's a couple pic's I thought looked to be close.

Gibby1
Gibby2

This article mentions commercial breeding...could explain why we don't see many 'reds'...:dunno:

The gibby sh. have 12-13 dorsal rays---does this check out?

thx ryan..not all that easy lol :S
I think she agreed w/ the ID, just the color was buggin' her.
But we'll see what she says...

I would definately say it is a sailfin. I have alot of them, they look the same :)

I really think its at gibbicep plec, i have one and the coloration, head shape and fin proportions are excactly the same, those babes will grow pretty big but they are beautiful, ps you may also find them listed under "sailfins"
