that is a good question it has been like that for a while im guessing beacuse it is always fighting and it flares its gills so they are getting irritaited

I thought only bettas flared. Oh well, you learn something new everyday.

Lovely pics! Did you put the baby cich straight in with the others or grow him on a bit? My newbie hap (nubia) is weeny and I was a bit worried he'd get eaten so I put him in with the catfish and he's fine

It would be..... I remember when I thought that a 2 gallon bowl with a plant and betta was the best ever setup! Now that I've been on this site, and have seen massive tanks with all kinds of interesting fish, a betta bowl doesn't seem so spectacular. I still like bettas, but if I had my way, the whole house would be covered with huge tanks.

actually i dont have much rock work beacuse i have made the fish happy in there tank and they never went in the caves so i just took it out but im gonna be putting some more in there!

that fish was borin in the tank the best thing you could do is get a 10g and grow it out feed it 3 times a day in small amounts. it will grow quite fast.
