Since a picture paints a thousand words (or so some smart alec said), have a look at these pictures.

They are very small, yet very colourful, and don't need to be in large numbers to be happy.

oh okay thank you. my dad wouldnt be very fond of the idea of having to get new fish for the tank :/ but yeah

I wouldn't have thought he'd be too happy with the idea of your current fish dying either. Best to get a refund now, whilst they're still alive.

i dont think that the petshop here does refunds especily on fish that are a week old ( from the shop)

1) Have you asked?
2) Has your dad asked? Sometimes, as bad as it is, shops are more responsive to a mature male, than a younger female.
3) Perhaps they would be more amenable if you asked them to swap your fish for a fighter.

Try anyway. It was over-the-top irresponsible for that LFS (local fish store) to sell you all those fish with that tiny, tiny tank. 9 litres??? Angelfish? The whole thing makes me angry!

Please take the fish back to the LFS and maybe bring your dad who should demand to speak with the manager. The staff took advantage of you, plain and simple. It doesn't matter that it was a week ago you bought them. The remaining ones will be dead soon if you don't take them back, I'm sorry to say.

And don't put endlers in that tiny tank either. I think the ONLY appropriate fish is a betta, and only one. They spend their retail time in a tiny cup so I think your 9L will be a treat.

thank you :)
i still have a feeling that they wont refund or even listen to my dad

They might have a policy against refunds, but at the very least you should get a nice betta out of it. I would still advise holding out for a refund with that many fish, and I would also talk to the manager. And, don't ever go back there once this incident is settled. That's the worst example of a bad LFS I've heard of in a long time. Where are you located?

This situation is making me sad, and angry. Maybe you could arm yourself with printed off info from your computer as to minimum tank-size of each of the fish that were sold to you! A 9 liter tank is a vase, that's it. I agree with demanding a trade of the remaining fish for a Betta. Also ask for some mature filter media (a small amount of used filter from their tanks) which you can add to your filter. This would give you an instantly cycled tank for your Betta.

Seeing that a 9 liter tank is still quite small even for a Betta, maybe you can ask for a bigger tank for your birthday (at least a 18 - 20 liter), or buy a cheap second hand one! Good luck!

thank you guys for all of the help here i will be sure to show my dad this so he can also use this information for when we go to the fish store,
gosh, i hope they do something about it

Please let us know what happens, and best of luck to you!
