This was taken yesterday.

This was taken ten minutes ago. He was fine this morning. I put red boxes around the missing scales.

He was one of my only bettas that had never gotten sick, I knew it was too good to be true.

You guys have to help, I can't loose this guy. He's my favorite.

EDIT:

I just saw this. I'm hoping he just had an accident with a rock and it's not something worse. I don't think he would make a nest if he was sick...

Also, he's at my desk about a half a foot from me so I notice any changes right away. This must have JUST happened. He's in an 8 gallon with 3 cories, the cories are fine.

That's a hellacious nest
When I first saw him I instantly thought that it looked like a scraping,but is there anything in his tank he could do that to himself on?

I put him in a half gallon inside the big tank and added salt and melafix. When looking at him from the side it looks like someone scooped out a chunk of his forehead.

Ya, there are lots of places that he could probably have done this
But he's tough, I think he'll be okay

Oh yeah. There's all kinds of places for him to nose around in. It looks like he tried to squeeze into one of those tiny crevices Crevice dweller
I hope he gets better quickly for ya.
