I got my new betta Bob just a couple of days ago.... I have him in a 2.5 gal from his original cup he was in at the store. I have a problem with him though....His tail at the back , part of it is really shredded and sort of grey colored...it put in some aquari-sol in his tank and took out the charcoal from the filter. Will this help stop this tail problem....or will it eat up his whole tail?  :/
:/  :X Ive only had him 2 days and already his getting sick on me -_-

sometimes finrot looks brownish, and rips normally sometimes are greyish?

bettamax *cough*

that stuff solves almost everything....it's like a dang drug! lol.....but really....it works great for like...everything.....almost. lol....goodluck!

also do frequient water changes so it will decrease the chance of it getting worse and try adding some aquarium salt.

hope hes turns out ok

What kind of filter do you have on the 2.5? It's possible that the filter produced too great of a current for a betta. That happened to mine back in the day, and the symptoms sound similar to yours.

Good luck.

I was thinking of that the book I have has almost a whole page on it. :alien: ... But he seems better. IE no more fuzzy grey stuff :D . Do you think I should keep him with the salt from now on, on the bag of salt it says all freshwater fish should have a little or would he be better off without it? By the way, when should I stop treating him with the aquarisol and put the charcoal back in the filter? I was thinking about waiting a couple days to make sure it doesn't come back...

ok and just a note this is really "wierd" but it seems everytime a get a petco fish I have to medicate them as soon as I get them..... :dunno: :dunno:
So much for my LFS

i would keep treating him for a little while longer. fw salts alwyas say that on the side of the container. it is not true. you should not have salt in your water constantly with most fish. bettas are the exception though. i always use 1/2 tsp of fw salt per gallon.
