I have already established that I messed up my cycle, because I didn't know what it was. I have too many fish to be cycling right now-I am attached to my fish. My fish are showing no signs of stress, the only one stressing is me. I do 2 50% water changes back to back, and still have a reading of 2.0, before I do the water change it's at 8.0. I checked my city water, and it does not have any ammonia in it. HELP!? What can I do, besides adding chemicals?

Just going off of that information alone you need to rehome fish (overstocking?) and do a very large water change to get things back under control. Live plants can help, too. I have a cycling tank as well it is a 29 gallon with 7 platy and my ammo never got over 1.0 and that was just one day....but i am assuming also that you are using a liquid test kit.

Or aquire another tank and buy mature media to stick in the filter :)

You could always ask your local fish shop to sell you some mature filter media for your filter, change it over and do a massive water change (like 75/80% change) and keep an eye on your water stats from there :good:

All you can do is massice water changes as often as is needed in order to get the ammonia reading down

Where are you based? Many members on here would probably give you some mature media.
