I have had american toad tadpoles in a ten gallon outside for awhile now, and I've lost a lot in the past couple days. I'd moved the tank to a brighter spot in the yard to get more sun, but the water went bad really quick (also found a big dead worm in it, not sure how it got there) and killed a bunch of them.
I changed the water and everything looked ok, but now I've noticed the remaining tadpoles seem to have green 'algae' actually stuck to them, but when I picked it off it looked grayish, and like it had started growing into them. Is this fungus, cause it doesn't look like any I've ever seen. Also, I know they need sun (that's why they're outside, as I live in a basement apartment with no windows ) but maybe I should bring the remaining ones in and put them in my tank? I don't have anything that would eat them.
Also, I've never seen them eat. They obviously are, but whenever I throw food in they show no interest, which I've never seen tadpoles do before.
I've never had these problems with any tadpoles before, what should I do?
