Please Help,
I have a 110 gallon tank including sump filter
1 large pleco
5 bosemans rainbows
4 neon tetra
4 glowlight tetra
2 angels
3 zebra spiney eels

amonia-0
nitrite-0
nitrate- 50 ( I know this is bad)

I noticed two of my eels were swimming strangely but decided this was because they hadn't managed to get much food recently, also a rainbow fish had a black mark on his back so I decided to use Interpet anti fungus and finrot on the whole tank, It says on the bottle that it does not harm the biological filter or the fish.
This morning I turned my light on all the fish were gasping for air, and the water is white and cloudy. I managed to change 30 percent of the water which improved the breathing of the fish but now 8 hours later they are all at the surface gasping again! I think I will change the water again now but does anyone know what could have hapend?

you really need to bring that nitrate down... what kind of a filter do you have?? Im thinking that because of the nitrate your tank got cloudy because of that

I assume this is a well established tank? How long exactly has it been up and running? Anyway, with the nitrates so high and cloudy water I'd put money you're overfeeding your fish. Starve them for a few days (won't do them any harm whatsoever), do frequent water changes and watch that water clear.

Its all ok now! I put the air pumps on, the water cleared overnight and all the fish are happy again, it must have been the medication I remembered it said on the bottle optimise airation.

if its a bacteria bloom they usually clear quickly. Just keep an eye on your ammonia and nitrite for a day for 2, make sure they dont spike.
