Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): I have a neon ( I think!) and 3 weeks ago 1 of its eyes really swelled up. We gave it a while but its still swollen. We have isolated him in a floating tank, as we have heard that they sometimes can get this after a fight with other fish. It has now been 4 weeks and isnt not gone done. He floats wonky with his bloaty eye facing up and just his fins and tail twitchs. We have been feeding him but he's not eating much. I think he has lost the sight in the eye and he now cant see the food. Im really not sure where to go next

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
1/2 a tank water changes with RO water
Chemical Additives or Media in your tank: We have been putting in King British - Fin Rot & Fungus Control as another fish has a fungi infection, this has been going in everyday for the last 5 days

Tank inhabitants: I have 2 catfish, 2 guppys and in total 5 neons (including the ill one) oh and common snails

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): Nothing unusal

Exposure to chemicals: no

Take a sample of your water to the lfs and tell them to write the readings down for you.
Invest in a liquid master kit.
Are the eyes bulging out.
Neons and livebearers need a tank of no less than 10 gallons as livebearers are active fish, and neons are a shoaling fish.
How long has the tank been set up.

Hi, I tested my water and they are as followed
Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 0.50
Nitrate: 0
Ph: 6.0

I have no carbon fiter in there at the moment there is only the sponge as i have to take it out for the fungus infection treatment. Also they have just been fed in the last 20 mins not sure if that changes the results.
Its only 1 fish that has a bulging eye and it has been like that for 4 weeks. All the other fish are healthy and happy.
I have had the tank since December.
They are fed on frozen brine shrimp with extra omega 3

Do any of the neons look bleached out in the red stripe area.
The neon has pop eye you will need a bacterial med.
Do a search on cycling a tank and stocking.

Isnt cycling what you do when you first have a tank, when we first got it we had it cycled for about 6 weeks we had weekly water test at our local aquatic shop. I havent done a water change in about 2 weeks. They are due one but i cant do one till the medication for the bacteria infection has finished. We use RO water in our tank and at water changes. This is made by our aquatic store and has the right levels of everything in it. We never use tap water or anything.
Do you think the neon will get better seeing as its been 4 weeks

yeah, your tank is overstocked and it looks like you haven't cycled which means your fish are probably very stressed, making them an easier target for diseas. It does sound like pop-eye, here's a link: http/www.fishjunkies.com/Diseases/popeye.php
please cycle your tank before adding any more fish, and if possible, rehome the healthy fish until you cycle your tank.

you should have treated or asked about the neon earlier, diseases usually don't just go away. Since you're overstocked in a small tank, you should do a water change every other day, if not every day. Having a dirty tank is usually the cause of bacterial infections.

Yeah cycling is where you add in ammonia to your tank (either adding it yourself or using tough/strong fish to supply the ammonia) so that bacteria grow in your filters. These bacteria when at the proper levels will rid the tank water of Ammonia and Nitrite. Water changes are the only way to remove nitrates.

If you have any ammonia or nitrites in your tank now it means that your tank is not fully cycled. You really should get your own water test kit so you can monitor the water conditions each day during medication times. Maybe the medication you used killed off some of the bacteria and that is why you are seeing some ammonia and nitrite in the tank now. (strange though as you have no nitrates...these are always present even after a water change, albet a lower reading)

I usually do a water change every week and at the same time i test the water. I always have had perfect results my ammonia and nitrites are usuallly at 0. Im wondering if its because i have taken the carbon filter out, the chemicals and the fact they need a water change.
We have had the tank since december and when we started we we even had them test and approve the tank that it was ready for the fish. Like i said i have not had a problem since all these fish are orginal and never had one die.

The resson the bloat eye was left and monitored was because they said it was proberbly because of a fight and that if you take him out of the main tank he should recover.

All the other fish are healty, eating and nothing else out of the ordinary (apart from catfish (loach) with slight fungus infection

What your tap nitrate reading and ph tap readings as livebearers wont do well in a ph of 6 it need to be in the 7 regiion.
Where is the fungus on the fish and is it fluffy.

I dont use tap water we use bottled ro water i can test that tomrrow. I might need to add some salt as when you use this ro water all the time the water becomes to soft for the fish so you need to put the salt in it to harden it up again.
The fungus is on the fins and belly of one of my catfish. I have been trating him for the last 5 days and it has nearly gone so he's not worrying me. I need to wait till he has completly healed till i do a water change and replace the carbon filter acording to the medication

Ok never used that med so couldn't tell you if it knocks your stats.
Is it possible to get aleast a 15 to 20 gallon tank.

Not really due to my living size, i will hopefullt be able to do a water change in the next day or so.
I will test my ro water tomorrow and let you now.
