I have 110 L tropical fish tank. Running for about 7 weeks. I checked water readings day before yesterday and they are as follows:

Nitrite 0.25 ppm
Ammonia 0.50 ppm
Nitrate 40 ppm
Ph 8.2

I immediately did 50% water change after than and then 20% then next day. Can anyone please help me that what should be the safe readings for the water. Two days before i added 7 new fishes to the tank, as i lost 5 guppies and one sword tail when i added them afater three weeks of setting up my tank. Now i have total 8 fishes, 2 sword tails, 4 platies and 2 Gouramies in total.

One more quick question, the gouramies are always hiding and do not come out even for eating, if there any problem?

Regards

hi
did you fishless cycle your tank prior to adding fish?

it sounds like youre now in a fish-in cycle which is going to mean frequent testing and daily waterchanges . this link should be useful
http://www.fishforum...ish-in-cycling/

the problems with the fish are directly related to your water stats once you get that under controll you will see change
