Just bought a fish - it was sold as a Panoon Shark and said it would grow to 5 or 6 inches .!!?

It doesn't seem to exist on the internet .

It looks like a young 3" arowana to me - it cost £8 or 12 Euro .

Stays in the top third of the tank and is very fast .

Sorry no pictures as yet.

is it this (top one) if so then its spelt paroon shark mate thats my guess its also know as pangasius

No I had the same result when I looked it up on the net.

I am familar with the pangassus cat.

As I said it looks similar to an arowana - but silver with a blackish horizontal line halfway down it's body.

well to sucsesfuly id it would be best if we had a pic

Ok , it's the general shape of an arowana - the set of fins on the underneath are in the middle of it's body - rather than being at the front - with a blackish line down it's middle and spends all the time in the top third..

Sorry can't provide any pics yet.

The picture you reference looks to be an 'Apollo Shark' - Luciosoma setigerum, to me anyway, could be wrong. If you have got an apollo shark it would spend all of its time near the surface.
