the EX1200 pipe internal diameter is 16mm. you can use standard clear pond hose and you can use the stuff that you can cut off the roles in B and Q. Thanks Adam

many thanks for the speedy reply Adam, do you happen to know what media i should put in the trays and which order is best?

Best to have some floss/polyfilter first then some sponges and bio media.

my 1200 has ceramic rings at the bottom, plastic ball things in the middle and carbon at the top with some sponges inbetween. at the very top it has the really fine filter 'wool'.
if you need exact then let me know and i will dig out the box and let you know!

a big thanks for all your help, what would the comparison be to a fluval 205 as im running a 205 at the mo???

how much is it costing you?

as a guide you can get brand new ones complete with all media for £60 ;)

I used to have the 205 running my 108l tank. I got the EX1200 so I could go fully planted and increase the amount of fish I have, and honestly I will never use a Fluval again unless I REALLY have to.

The TetraTec's are brilliant, quiet, massive media trays, and awsome output.

I was going to ask the same thing. Unless it is something stupid like under 20 pounds I would have thought you're far better buying new with a guarantee, shedloads of media, pipes, spraybar and delivered for under 60 quid.
