Hi there. I have just purchased a weirpro SA2011 skimmer for my 124L tank. I had to get this skimmer as money is really tight at the moment, but really needed a skimmer. It didn't come with setup instructions, only a diagram on the box. Pump with it is capable of 900 LP/Hr. I have got it installed and was just wondering where I should have the water level set to. i have read on various sites that it should be set half way up the neck of the collection cup, others say bottom of the collection cup. Can anyone advise on this. I know there is a settling in peiod for skimmers before they start working properly.

Thanx

Si

there is two ways of skimming. Wet or Dry.

wet skimming leaves the cup filled with murky water with chunks in and needs to be emptied more. For this skimming the bubbles want to be about half way up the neck

dry skimming leaves the cup full of nasty sludge. my skinner gos for a week without a clean if i dry skim. the bubbles need to be just above the bottom or the neck for that.

Thanks Ben. I was told that I probably won't see anything happen for about 2 days, does that sound about right to you?

My DIY solution gets to work again within the hour. Professional units may vary. Deltec recon about 24 hours, Aquamedic about 48 hours in the product ranges I researched before I decided DIY was my only option (Very limited space and a moderatly tight budget. Had to be re-circulating type for me and budgets diden't stretch to a decent one ;) ) In short, it depends on the manufacturer, and model I suppose is a possibility, but Weirpro aren't one I'm formiliar with I'm afraid

i have a v2 400 on my tank. i reckon it was about a week til i got it consistantly pulling crap out. I had a few days of just foam and a few odd mixtures. Depends how good you are at ajusting it i guess.
