Ok so I have three long-finned GBRs. I've been having a really tough time sexing them...
I would estimate their age to be around 6 months, they're all between an inch and an inch and a half
So my problem is, I feel like they all display characteristics of both sexes! Kinda frustrating.
They all have: blue spangling over the black flank dot (a female characteristic), elongated dorsal spines (male characteristic), and a black stripe on their pectoral fins (female). None of them have any sort of pink on their bellies. And I realize that males are usually more common in the aquarium trade.
Pictures:
Ram #1- the most dominant one
It really does have blue spangling most of the time
Ram #2- this one doesn't have as long dorsal spines
Ram #3- gets beat up the most- also a little bit smaller than the other two
Any help would be appreciated
