Help With Plecs Please

I lost one of the plecs today as predicted.I am pretty gutted about that. The others seem to be a lot better though
Will post a picture once I can catch one out of hiding. :good:

My other three plecs have settled in now and are looking very healthy.Just thought I would update anyone who was interested(which is probably nobody.) :hyper:

Well done! Like LisaLQ said, once plecs get to the "hollow belly" stage they frequently fail to recover however much care they get. But yours is one of the rare success stories. Be sure and make a note of what worked, which foods you used, and how often you fed them. Next time round, you'll be able to share those tips with some other worried fishkeeper!

Cheers, Neale

Sorry to hear of your loss, but I'm really pleased the others made it through ok - that's fantastic considering how poorly they were! Well done - would love to hear how you did it so I can make a note for future reference :)

I think it was the bogwood with flake food pasted on with egg white then allowed to dry before putting it in
the tank at night.I suppose that is one of the most natural way for them to start feeding.
I also did a water change daily to give them the best possible conditions. Apparently plec breeders use this method
to feed fry etc. :D

Oooo I'd love an update if you have time. I picked up a young GN this week (against my better udgement, but he was too cheap to miss out on) and his belly is good at the moment but I haven't seen him eat yet. More details on the egg pasting would be fab if you get a chance. Glad yours are improving! :good:

I just got a new tiger pleco yesterday, seemed ok but i've come in from work tonight and it is lying on its back on the gravel, i've put in some potato as advised and actually placed it onto the potato, i think it was too weak otherwise, so, fingers crossed.
Can't believe how thin it has got in 24 hours, not just the belly, the whole fish seems thinner

Oh no. Hope he's ok. Lying on his back doesn't sound good.

Post an update when you can. He's a lovely plec.

I did'nt realise how difficult some of these plecs are to acclimatise.I am sorry you lost him,I think as posted above that some are in bad condition before leaving the shop
and it only takes a move to finish them off
