Dont even try to alter Ph, it is realy hard to get right. Think about this, if you alter your tanks Ph then each & every time you do a water change you will have to Ph match it.

My tapwater is 7.8 ish. Dont fret about it, its not going to harm your fish, they will adapt quite easily. After all, your local fish shop uses the same tapwater you do.

OMHO people tend to overworry about Ph. Just leave it alone, your fish will be fine.

thanks for that , i read alot of people saying it has to be 7.0 on the dot otherwise they wouldn't go near it blah blah blah, probably got too much time on their hands :)

I would/t bother about it. If (like me) you're concerned that you might see a shorter life span if you go for a fish that prefers a lower pH then chose your fish according to the pH that you have - I've ended up with Tiger Barbs and stuff which likes the water as it is and I'm very happy. If in the future I want soft water fish I'll mess about with RO water etc however that's costly in terms of water wasted, time and effort so the larger tanks will always be hard water :)
