Hello everyone. I just wanted to thank everyone that will take the time to read this message.
I have had my betta fish for two and half years. His name is Henry. Nothing has ever been wrong with him. I feed him 3 floating betta fish pellets every day. I clean the tank frequently with a gallon of clean conditioned water. It is always cleaned very well.
Today I looked inside my betta fish’s tank, and noticed that my fish’s top fin had become black, and missing. The fish’s natural color is brown, red, and dark green. His top fish has always been up and very long. I had not noticed this change before.
After I noticed this, I cleaned the tank today. I added a conditioner that protects the coat of the fish.
The following pictures are of him. They show the area of his fin that has been affected. I do not have pictures of him before. This picture from google kind of looks like Henry before this happened. The pictures are not the best. I tried to edit them the best I could.

Does anyone know what is wrong? Have I done the right things to help him? What can I also do to cure him?
Thank you.

This may be a form of fin rot. It sounds bacterial. Try for an a med that takes care of bacterial infections, specifically external. If I am mistaken, it may be China disease. Ask your pet shop, and bring Henry.

Oh wow. Thanks. I'll have to try to bring him tomorrow. Do you know if it will spread through out the fish?

ummm....please tell me thats not a bowl tank >.< bettas deserve atleast a 10 - 20 galon tank heated and all...just because its says they dont need any of it doesnt mean you gotta go by what it says...but pretty fish from what i see

Yeah, it's a plastic bowl. It's been living in there for 2 1/2 years now. This is the only problem we've ran into within those years. We make sure that the bowl is heated and a good temperature.

Although a 10-20 gallon would be heaven... a gallon bowl works so long as there are very frequent water changes and the temp stays at a constant 75-80F. But even a gallon should only be temporary... a 3 gallon tank should be minimum... but anywho!

Looks like it could be finrot.. Hard to tell by the pics

i have betas and im not sure if it is or not but it looks like china disease which is rare but i recently had

i dont wish to be rude to the above poster, but plz dont take it that way, but ur advice isnt exactly gr8, u told some1 earlier that there betta is ok being severly swollen and bloated and laying on its side, and simply saying, he doesnt like his new tank

id refrain from giving any advice untill u kno what u are talking about

again, im not being rude, i just dont think its right to give out advice when u dont know what ur on about

cheers
