Help With Id

Looks like a CTPK imo,

The length of the fins are almost dead on (if they arent), and how likely is such damage to occur looking at that specemin looks like someones had the scissors out if he isnt a CTPK.

Looks nice if he was in the shop for £20 id still buy him up :)

Thank you he is stunning. He makes me laugh as next to my VT he looks stumpy.
As promised I will get more pics of him on later.
He was being sold as a ragged VT so I actually got him for £3.00. :good:

My bad, he is double ray, there's just a bit of webbing there.
CTPK as far as I can tell.
Nice find... I can understand that they don't care about bettas if they thought that was a damaged VT! lol

I know they really don't care about them at all, which is why I really try and avoid them like the plague.
It's sad as there is a little black one like mine still there too.
More pics to follow of my little man later.

I have been back and the other little one is just a badly torn VT - as I feared mine was when I got him. Unfortunately I'm not sure that the other one can be saved, and I don't have another tank. I tried talking to them in the shop but they didn't want to know and just looked at me like I was mad - they argued that they can live in small vases with a water change once a month - decorations they called them. I was so mad I had to leave in the end.
They are a chain 'World of Water', and they do have a web-site but i think it is just general and you can't buy fish from individual shops.
I love my little guy and don't regret getting him - but I won't be going back and giving them my money again.

Sorry it has taken so long to get the pictures up, but following on here are some pics of my little boy, that might help a bit more with ID.

definately a CTPK. he does have a tiny bit of damage to his tail and seems to have a bit if scar tissue there, but other than that, a mint wee fish! awsome find :good:

will you be breeding from him at all?

Thank you. He is a gorgeous fish - his colours are amazing. He looks fantastic when he flares too.
Is there anything I need to treat him with - or is it old damage?
To be honest though I wouldn't know what type of female to breed him with - and I certainly wouldn't find one in the shops near me, also it sounds rather hard - and I'd hate to get it wrong. Another thing is selling them on - I couldn't keep them and we don't really have any fish shops which are great betta stockists near me. I must admit it does seem a shame though as he is gorgeous.

I wuld have to say CTPK from that pic, he looks in so much better condition now, his rays have sharpened out lovely...a real nice find

looks like old damage, so i would worry. he should be just fine so long as his water is kept clean.

if you were to breed him i probobly pair him to a PK female to produce soem combtail pks and then pair one of his daughters back to him to produce better crowning. it would be a shame not to breed him as he is such a gawjus fish, and a tail type we so rarely see here
