Help With Id Please

I went into a local fish shop yesterday - which I tend to avoid as they do not look after their fish, after looking around I decided to look at the fighters - who are placed with all sorts of nippy fish, and at the back of one of the tanks I saw this guy.
He looked so sad, and as the lighting was bad I believed him to be a VT in very bad shape. So I bought him, but now I have got him home I don't believe he is a VT can anyone tell me what he is?
I appreciate your help.

could be a ct or a chewed vt. I should leave it until he is settled and then try to get a photo flaring, but dont stress him out poor guy!

Thank you - the thing is although you can't tell in this picture - he doesn't look chewed, and he has flared at me already and the top of his back fin combs round - if that makes sense - he resembles nothing like my other VT's, but his finnage is still quite short, but looks perfectly formed. He is eating already too thank goodness, and is exploring lots so he doesn't seem to phased by it all. Poor little guy has really coloured up as well since I have had him, he looked so sad in the shop.
