I have hade this little dude in the tank for a while and never really took any notice as it was tiny but I moved a rock today that had been hiding it a little and found that it has grown loads and there are 2 new ones underneath it!
What is it? Its about 1.5 inches across, I have seen it catch food with its tentacles and then curl up to eat it.

Looks like a button polyp to me. It MIGHT be an anemone, but it looks way more like a button polyp to me

I have always told people thats what it was but I recently added some in the tank and they look different. It clearly has a mouth

Yeah, both palythoa and corallimorph anemones have mouths. Many corals have mouths for that matter :) There are many different color morphs and sizes of palythoa. The term "button polyp" refers to larger browner color morphs and is really just a common name given to the corals you have.

Definately not an anemone. Its a Palythoa. :good: Dropping babies by the looks of it too! Nice!
