Hi All-
Well I've been searching and searching for a large enough cave/decorations for my bala to be able to fit into. All I come up with are ones that cost 75 us dollars or more. Although I want my big guy to feel comfy I just can't bare or afford to pay that much money for a cave.

So this is my plan.

Buy a 10 inch diameter plastic flower pot. Cut it in half. and cut out the bottom. Get some large pebbles and glue them to the pot with aqarium sealant. let dry then put it in the tank.

My question is, will it be ok to use a plastic flower pot? Or will it harm my fish. Obviously I will wash it very very good (no soap) before I glue the large pebbles on, but I am just not sure it will work or not.

I bought an extremely large peice of pvc piping but its still not big enough for my shark.

Please let me know, as I am planning on doing this soon!
Thanks! :D

what about a big porcaline pot???

our local garden centre has a barrel of broken post (normally used in the bottom of other pots when planting) the normally have some BIG pots that have been dropped...

worth a try?

Hmm good idea. I ended up finding a HUGE peice of PVC piping for 7 us dollars. I bought some aquarium sealant and some gravel and am planning on glueing it all together this weekend. I hope the fishies like it!

hey at some plumbing supply places or construction supply places they have green sewer pipe in diameters up to around 24inches. i know this sound large but they also have 3,4,6,8,10, etc you can make some wonderful caves from this. they also sell alighter duty perforated pipe that can make a great hiding spot. if you have the plastic pot maybe you could cut out the bottom and find a pipe to match the diameter and attach it to the bottom to make a long tubelike cave.
hope this helps
pete
