Help

I have a 260 litre aquarium with internal filter. PH 6.8, KH 4 GH6 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 10ppm. Well washed sand substrata.

The tank is well planted and has cycled for 4 weeks now. The water perameters appear stable (I'm adding fish from my 2 foot tank one or two a week now, to build up the good bacteria in the filter).

We've had a problem with green (slime) algea and took all the bogwood out of the tank this weekend to thoroughly clean it.

I now have tiny white specs in the water, which seem to attach themselves to the front glass. The Danios seem to eating the white specs. I've tried using a magnifying glass (hand held) to no avail - I can't see what the specs are.

Anyone got any ideas please?

Thanks for any replies.

sounds like what my uncles had in his! maybe its severn trent water supply?

my uncle is in cheltenham, it filtered out in a few days, water changes made no difference!

the filter was so gunked up with this crap aswell, looked like results of a bad cold but white!

Hi

ive had a simlar problem and my water severn trent in derby. firstly when i set up my tank i had it i also had bog wood so i compleatly re washed the bog wood by doing the following.

boiling hot water from a ketle soak for 30min
cold rinse.

repeated this 3 times.

then compleatly re-washed the whole tank.

Seemed to cut the white stuff 90% its the tannin that caused it under the UV light it seems to create this white mist.

I add this problem in my tank and I don't live in the UK

i found out that it was an algae bloom. I scrubbed the glass and did a 50 % water change every other day. It eventually went away.
