It's not harmful :) the fish will sometimes eat it also,
Is it a new bit of wood? As they leech the white mould when they begin to get water logged, you can scrub it off or leave it for the fish to deal with :)
Like the look of the tank by the way!

Thanks Nic1,the wood with that stuff on it i had in my other tank, then ihad it soaking so i had and had scrubbed them, then just noticed the hairy moldy stuff on it there a while ago,as long as its not harmful i might just leave it for the fish to clean it of for me :D

No worries, that's what I did, they were at it for days lol

lol saves having to take it all out and try to set it all up again :)

Yep, not much to worry about there, i had the same stuff coming form my wood when i first set up my first tank.

I took the wood out and wiped the fuzz off, never did any harm. :)

As others have said nothing of real concern, i find it a bit unsightly and removed the wood and ceaned it when i had some  with no ill effects.

OMG The wood is getting worse and its starting on the glass,i even had the wood out and scrubbed it the other day,i was wondering if it would be the play sand thats causing it,as i notice on other bits of wood that there is sand its starting to look all hairy, scummy etc,i never had and of this when i set up my other tank.

I've used play sand in my current set up (Argos kids sandbox sand) I dot think it would be the sand.... Maybe there's a product that can eliminate it?
If there isn't then it's plenty of water changes, scrubbing and cleaning until it's all gone!
Just had a look, there are no real products that can get rid of it, unless you want to bleach it but I don't recommend that :s
Maybe putting few snails in there might help? Nerite snails are the best! :)
