Help Req Please

Leave the LR until the weekend, that way you can get your water right before putting the LR in. Leave the ocean rock out altogether IMO, you will just end up replacing it eventually. There is a guy selling LR at £5 a kilo not far from you on UR, I will pm you the link to the thread!

Hi Again
I dropped the guy a PM about the live rock Thanks for the heads up
What should I look for as I hope to go thru at the weekend and pick it up?
Thanks for all your help
I will take out the ocean rock and dump the water
Speak soon
Best Regards
Konica

Look for healthy growth of any corals that are on the LR, and the smell of the ocean usually indicates the LR is good.
I know the seller and he won't rip you off. As you have already found out on the other side, they are a friendly helpful bunch of people!!

If running your filters isn't removing the cloudiness then it's most likely calcium carbonate precipitate. Best way to get rid of this is to increase aeration and add some LR to get some biological processes going in there :)

That's what he is doing Ski, adding his first LR at the weekend, and gathering equipment like a man possessed!!

Heh Heh
Wallets now empty Alan
Anyway the water is a lot clearer today
I think the problem was the rocks
Another quick question hope you don't mind
I have 2 internal filters 1 is Fluval and the other is a trio2000
Do you think they will be ok in such a small tank?
At the mo I just have carbon and filter wool in them I took out the sponges as I read that they are no good
Sorry to be such a pest!!!
I really appreciate all the help

No problem Grant, they will be fine, and a good turnover rate I think for your tank. You could even put LR rubble in the trio if you wanted to.
You are not being a pest, it's better to ask questions before you make any mistakes.

Anyway thanks for all the help again

No problem Grant, I am just glad to be able to help you.
We will meet up sometime, but as I don't drink beer, you can treat me to a coral frag or two :shifty:
