I'm afraid I'm not the right person to help you, in any case you should do what Collin T recommended you, you can't have any ammonia in the tank, this fish is known here als Palembang puffer and they seem not to need salt in the water, that's not the important thing now but to improve your water quality, as I've just read in the web there is a mess regarding the classification and other information about this fish.
