just got a 60L tank today, have started using nutrafin cycle and nutrafin aqua plus, it (and the man in the shop) said i could add fish after three days of doing this is this true?
and i haven't been using any testing kits as the man in the shop said all i needed was in the box...
also will i be able to add all the fish at once?

Everyone here recommends you do a 'fishless cycle' in the link above.

pros: add nicer fish sooner, friendlier on the fish
cons: you have to wait 4-8 weeks

and you NEED to buy a test kit from ebay.

Theres also a planted cycle.

pros: Fish straight away
cons: alot of maintainance, bit of stress for the fish.

Then theres the fish in cycle where you get a few hardy fish to get the filter going and wait 6-8 weeks

Pros: fish straight way
Cons: water changes every day, ALOT of stress on fish, Fish might die, have to wait for the better fish anyway.

Up to you

in order of fish friendly

1) fishless cycle
2)
3)
4)
5)
6)
7) planted cycle
.
.
.
83) Fish-in cycle

how is a planted cycle not fish friendly? can you answer me that? Planted cycles are fine when done properly, though i wouldn't advocate a newb to do a silent cycle.

sorry to deviate from the thread a little, there is some good advice in this thread.

because ANY ammonia/nitrIte is harmful

There's not AS much with plants but there's going to be traces.

Although its dependant on how many fish and sizes.

there is always ammonia traces in a tank, thats what keeps a filter working :good: . Again, the silent cycle isn't really a newb way to do things. But done properly, there is no problem at all.

I started with a planted cycle tbh.

3 weeks in. no deaths. and slowly getting my numbers up and more plants xD

i fish in cycle on all new tanks as do many aquatic shops, not lost a fish yet.

That's awesome. I do fishless cycles now because my schedule can sometimes conflict with the needs of a fish-in cycle. I lost too many fish doing ti that way. I am glad it works out great for you though :good:

This stuff DOES NOT work ,i spent a fortune on it ,all it does is delay you`re tank cycling!!!!
