hi there,
im needing some advise, i have treated my fish tank with methalane blue, but the tank hasnt cleared yet, this was 3 days ago, also ibought a new peice of wood for the tank which i gave it a good rinse before putting it in. now my water looks green, today i went to local pets shop they told me accuclear would sort out my problem, but im scared incase this harms any of my fish
could anyone advise me on this. thanks

Are you running any carbon in your filter? If you aren't you should add some for the time being to take out the excess meds in the tank (assuming that you are done medicating). I don't have any real driftwood (mine are all resin) in my tank, but I hear people boil the pieces before putting them into the tank (especially if it has been found outside). Wood will leech tanins into the water and boils helps rid this (although not perfect). However, I only thought that the water would turn brown.

HTH.

Maybe your water is a combination of blue from the meds and yellow/brown from the tannins making a green color...

I would take out the wood and boil it for a while to release those tannins. Then make sure you have activated carbon or some good filter media in there to get out the meds...

I wouldn't put the wood back in until you have cleared the meds out...Then put the wood back in once that water is clear. If the water gets colored again, you can more easily isolate which thing you added is the issue...

I would try this before adding a clearing agent...Hope this helps.
