Hi, my Black Neon Tetras keep dying, the water quality is fine I have an API testing kit and all the results come out fine, they just keep dying and its like they cant swim, they lose colour

I have one flipping about all over the place now

They have 1 tank mate and its a female betta

This is a mature tank so thats not the problem

Any ideas?

Can you see any sort of aggressive behaviour between any of the fish? Something is obviously not right if your fish keep dying, hence, it's helpful if you could still post the results of your test if they are fine and people will be able to help you out. :)

They are not being aggressive, they have no marks what so ever I've watched the closely

They are due for a cleaning out today so I'll post the results before I do it for you to see

What has changed since the fish have become aggressive? Tank setup changes, anything at all? Or are they new fish?

I only had a few black neons and I bought some more from a local pet shop which I always go to and have never had any problems

You've got no Nitrates atall?

God I wish I could do that!

Are you using RO water? No nitrates? Very hard to get with normal tap water.

The no Nitrates is odd. Even after I did a 90% water when swapping substrate over I still had Nitrates of 10ppm. I don't think my Nitrates have evr dropped below 10ppm and that's with regular weekly 30% water changes.

Just a thought but how old is your test kit....? If it were me, do as already said, shake well, then i'd test the tap water, clean the tube out and test the tank water. 0 Nitrates is odd strange, perhaps it is true and good for you but... something is up!

I've retested and its still 0

I use tap water and they get cleaned out once a week, bottle 2 always gets a good shake...
