Hi Can someone help me please.

This is going to sound strange, I've got two Male Platys. They bellies are very swollen. They do look like they are Pregnant (thats the way, I can explain)
Can anyone tell me, what it is and how to treat them.

Thanks
Fiona

Need more info.
Size of tank in gallons or litres.
How many fish and which type.
Water stats in ammonia,nitrite,nitrate,and ph.
Can the fish maintain there balance in the water.
Are scales sticking out.
What do you feed the fish.
What does it look like when the fish go to the toilet.

48litres, 16 Fish.... 6 Platys (sorry I don't know the type) only 2 Micky Mouses and 1 Sunset. 2 dalmation Mollies, 2 sliver mollies, 2 Black mollies. 2 cat fish, two orange Swordfish.

PH: 7.5
Nitrite: 2.5 (I've done a water change today)
Ammonia: 0
Nitrate: I don't know. I'll have to get a kit tomorrow

yep they can keep their balance
Fish Flake's, Tetra Prima, Adhesive tablets. (the Prima and the Tablet, we give them not very often) Scales are in

When they go it's like a dark reddish colour.

Thanks for helping me

Fiona

Overstocked for that size tank.
How long has the tank been set up as you have a nitrite reading.
Have you been feeding any red foods like bloodworms.
Is there anus enlarged or red and inflamed.

The tank is a Aqua start 500. we went with what the book says, how many fish we can have
the tank has been set up for 4 months
no not feed them bloodworms
anus is normal.

The tank saying overstocked by your water stats as nitrite should be 0.
How often do you do a gravel vac and water change.
I would add another filter to cope with the stock.
If the poo is red it's sounding like internal parasites to me.

yep we use a vac.
It's my mum's tank, which is having the problem. I have a aqua start 320 and we also have a aqua start 320 for frys
Last week she brought some new gravel. Could that have send the Nitrites up?
Before that all the Nitrites was 0

Yes that would do it by sending the tank into mini cycle, as when you change a substate you remove the benefical bacteria.
I would read that link on internal parasites.

Whats your location.

You might need to look into this med if you think you are dealing with internal parasites.
Good luck.

For now try some shelled peas on the fish.
Boil some frozen peas for a few minutes, let cool down, pop out of shell, mush between fingers then add to the tank.
