Help Please - Identify

Hello all, I am a total beginer at fishkeeping so do not know that much. Could anyone tell me what are the white markings on this fish?

TIA for any help

fish in centre of picture is the supected ill one. Concerned about white markings in front of the dorsal(?) fin

same fish slightly different angle (agian centre fish is the affected one )

last photo show other fish in the tank have no markings. The affected fish is top right of the group

Does his eye also look cloudy?
What are you're water stats (ammonia, nitrate, nitrite)
How big is the tank? How long has it been set up?

Another thing it could be other than disease is "beating" marks, fish tend to go a pale whiteish colour like that when bruised... Sounds unlikely but just make sure that fish isnt being bullied for any reason.

Do you have anything else in your tank besides the swords displayed in the pics?

what does confuse me is none of the other fish seem to be unhealthy but I keep losing individuals. With depressing regularity....

i do have a catfish. I inherited the tank with the catfish and a single striped tetra. Everytime I populate the tank I lose fish slowly but surely

looks like a bacterial infection.
do you notice the fish shimmying (ie swimming on the spot)?
is there any rapid gill movement?
does it stay in one place a lot?
is there any flicking/flashing?

the fish does not seem to be doing any of the above.

I cannot measure ammonia as I do not have a kit for this

not good. do a large water change. No2 should be 0 and No3 should be lower.....
