Hi,

I have a Hydor filter pump, this one here: http://www.hydor.it/inglese/hydea.htm

For a while now although the water is flowing through the pump, there are not any bubbles like there used to.

Does anyone know how I can fix this so that it will start bubbling again? What is the problem? Is it anything to do with the 'Fast/Slow' thing which I have no idea how to use?

Thanks

Hi. How long has the filter been in use for? Maybe you just need to take it all apart and clean the slime out of it. Usually in most filters you can take it apart to get right down to the impeller to clean. If it's squeaky clean, then it should spin fine, and maybe you need to figure out how to operate the "fast/slow thing."

Hi, thanks for replying.

I have taken it apart as much as I know how and cleared the slime. The water is flowing through fine, I can see the food being 'blown' by it. But there are no bubbles, so wouldnt that mean it is something to do with air trying to get in or being blocked?

I was hoping someone here could help me figure out how to use the high/low flow control thing!

Hi I noticed you have a penguin 350 Is this the biowheel? If so I jsut changed my old filtration system with a Penguin biowheel 300. I have a question if you know the answer. It has been a month now and the water is not crytal clear like it used to be with the other filter. It looks like little things floating around in the water almost small bubbles. but is leaving a cloudy look to it. The question is am I running it correctly..the filter is black side facing toward the tank and the blue sponge toward the back. The intake tube has a gray air inlet but I am not sure where to place it while running it kind of moves around on its own with the current. Any advice? I have been cahnging the water regularly since the new addition of the filter.

Hi Jolaf! Yes i do notice small bubbles at night when i have the lights in the tank on. They are just air bubbles from the water splashing over the bio wheels i think. As for my water it is clear as can be. The blue sponge part should face away from the tank with the black carbon side facing the front of the tank as you have it. As for the gray inlet are you talking about the little thing that will allow water to be sucked up from higher up on the intake tube? Mine has little detents on it so it doesn't move on it's own but i usually leave it about half open so some water from higher areas of the tank are pulled into the filter also. It sounds like you're doing everything correctly. If you still truely have cloudy water, maybe the bacteria haven't quite stabilized after the filter swap.

cxt32: the high low flow control likely should adjust the amount of water moving through the filter. See if you can adjust it to see what happens to the flow. I wish i could help you more but i am not familiar with that particular filter.

*edit: yes the penguin 350 has 2 bio-wheels.

Thank you that is my thoughts are also that the tank is going through a sort of mini cycle and I will jsut have to wait. All the water stats are very good just cloudy :) Thanks for the input it is appreciated.
