Evening Guys,

I have just brought a Aqua Clear 50 Power head off Ebay and it seems that i might be a little to strong in the tank, i need to know what anyone would recommend putting in there?!?

I have basically turned it on and it seems like the little sponges things that are growing on the rocks seem like they will be blasted away, is this what its meant to be like? The tank is only 110 litres. I have around 15kg of live rock which i have placed in there today, I'm a little concerned about the power head and i know i might need to order one quite soon.

I do have a Fluval Canisters for the tank but it ins't running at the moment, as i had a spilt pipe so it is being sealed over night, and im using a old filter to move the water around in there for now.

I will post a picture of how the the live rock is set out in the tank so people might be able to advise the best place to place it so it isn't so strong, you can't adjust the flow strength .

I have seen this wave maker on ebay link below would this be ok for the tank?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you

I thought that 240 gallons per hour (koralia nano) might be too much for my 10 gallon tank .... but it turned out to be just right ..... one guy in the LFS thought I should only need 100 gallons per hour ..... someone else who worked there said even 240 gph was not enough ..... that I needed 400 gallons per hour ..... so I decided on something in between.

In one book I was reading it said that the minimum turn over per hour should be 10 times the volume of the tank .... but for soft coral 20 times , and for hard coral 30 times.

so for your tank.... 3000 liters per hour should not be too much; although, you have a very long tank and it might have been more ideal to have two 1500 liters per hour power heads .... but if you mount at it the rear of the tank and point it just slightly down and towards the back of the tank it may be ok for you.

Really is all according what you are going to keep but the minimum you should be looking for is 20 x 110 = 2200 flow per hour
