I did make a post but should have propbably done it in here.Anyway I have whitespot so about to do a waterchange and clean the gravel. At what point should I remove the filter from my fluval 2? do I store it in some of the aquarium water and for how long?

Do I also turn the temp up on the heater now just before I add the treatment?

oo-er, hope you don't have whitespot, it's normally only fishes that get it LOL :hyper: (sorry, couldn't resist)

Anyway, you don't normally remove the whole filter sponge when you are treating whitespot, just the charcoal sponge (the blackish one) if there is one - and not all filters have a charcoal sponge bit. But yes remove it before you start the treatment. You can turn the temp up on the heater if your heater is not already at the highest safe setting - e.g. if your tank is usually set to 76-78 degrees you can turn it up to 80. You just don't want to go too much higher than that really, depending on what fish you have in there as some are more sensitive to higher temperature than others.

Carbon is black. It could be in the filter insert, or in a bag. If you have it in your filter, you can't miss it. Feels like small rocks.
