Hello I'm new here and I need some help with my Synodontis eupterus. I only know that they are this type of upside down cat by looking at your photos. I'm a Canadian gal living in China. I have a simple tetra tank with two goreous cats. I've had them for well over a year now. Recently one has developed a strange colouration. He as lost all his big black spots and now has a white marbled effect to his body. It's not fuzzy or anything when I look very very closely at him in the tank it actually looks as though he has lost his colour pigment. Now the other one has started this process too.

I have a great picture of it but it seems that now when I try to put photos and photobucket then onto a forum they are tiny like an avtar. If I could email the photo to someone that would be great. I'll try to post the photo. It's really clear and close up and you can see what I mean that it's not fuzzy and it's really the pigment of the skin has changed.

Still eating and swimming and whatever. Definitely have seen a difference in personality though. Just hanging in the plant most of the time as seen in this photo.

I was able to adjust the photo size by the way. Should get a good image.

Hmmm...seems over the last few days the firewalls in China have been preventing people from uploading photos to websites and viewing things like uTube. I don't believe photobucket is allowing me to upload my photo so I can post it on this site.

Oh yeah, looks like it worked. Let's see. Keep your fingers crossed.

Okay everything has worked. Some one please tell me what's happening to my beautiful cats. I bought some general medicine but only what has some english writing on it. I really don't know what to do. Other fish in tank are okay. The first cat started this over a month ago now.

Thanks, Gloria.

I have heard of this happening but the white was far more like a growth in the other....

The only thing I can think of is it's a hybrid or hormone altered syno (like Zebra USD catfish)

No these cats have been beautiful brown spotted for the last year. This weird loss of pigment has just started a couple of months ago.
