Help My Guppy Tails Are Being Nipped

Recently I have bought a mickey mouse platy, since having him i have notice my guppies tails have split and also been almost half eaten, is it common for mickey mouse fish to do this? I told the fish shop that i had guppies and he didnt say not to get the mm fish.

Do u do water changes?
How often?
Do you test your water qualities?
If so what's the readings?

Hi

I have a 30litre biorb, with 4 guppies, 3 tetra Neons and 1 mickey mouse platy, I also have 3 Algee shrimp and 3 baby red shrimp.

I do a 30% water change about once a week as i give my fish red worm as a treat once a week and left overs always seem to get stuck in the filter sponge, I test my water each week and my water stats are fine.

2 weeks ago i bout 2 guppies and 1 mickey mouse, and soon after i noticed once of my guppies tails looked like it had been nipped, then on sunday one of my guppies died. When i looked last night 3 of the guppies have had their tails nipped one of them has split this has all happend since putting in the new fish, I have had the other guppies and tretras since last oct with no problems.

some time neon's will do this. just keep an eye on then to see what their doing.

Also add some melifix that will help stop infection's setting in

Would u like a dog nipping your hands all the time?
An infection could easily set in which would be the main problem.

Add some melifix this will help to stop any infection's.

hopefully it's the neon's way way of saying it's the boss and the guppy will lurn.
However your have to keep an on it.

id say it was the neons and not the platy, neons are notorious fin nippers, same reason you never put them in with betta's

thing is, I keep 4 guppies and 8 neons, yet they live peacfully

not all neon's are nippy, but it only takes one to nip them all
