So I picked myself up a cheap tank. 48" x 12" x 15" .. so about litres but with a decent footprint.

Can I keep an adult pleco in this??

Could you recommend me some types of Pleco I can safely keep in this? Chaaars.

same size as my tank, go to the plec section, theres a huge thread about plecs that stay under 8 inches. they should all be fine size wise.

haha didnt realise this was already in the plec section. i think it may also depend on other bottomfeeders. i have 3 plecs in my tank, though only my whiptail is anywhere full size, and its only about 6 inches, and by design is very small in every other way. if my other 2 ever get adult size, i'll probably have to move one of them on.

despite the apparantly small capacity, the footprint is a nice size and shape for plenty of bottom feeders, mine (in my sig) all get on fine.

So your advice is to not get a common plec or gibbicep or something, and stick with the smaller species?

I wouldn;t bother with the common or the gibbies

You have a perfect size tank for a nice plec tank, lots ofwood, wlate caves and plants and lots of cardinals or rummys at the surface and maybe a small group of ancistrus, or L260, L134 etc and have a crack at breeding them

Or do what I have done and buy a small group of young Royal Whiptail(sturisoma) they are only cheap when young and have a crack at breeding them, or you could buy different species one of each for a plec collection
