Hi all,
was hoping for some help identifying this little hitchhiker that came along with some plants I bought this weekend. My guess is he is a platy, although he doesn't seem to school with my other platys, even though I have one around the same size. I would say he is about a quarter of the size of an adult platy, although he does look a little bit stockier than other platy fry I've seen, especially around the tail area. He's pretty cute though. Sorry about the atrocious photo, he wouldn't keep still to let me take a photo. He is a pale orange colour and has a slight 'glow' on his body, along with a black tail and fins, and black lips.

That is a platy. Platy dont really "school". Its mainly males constantly bothering females. So dont be worried, just remember the fact that you got a free fish.

A yellow wag tail platy. They may not "school" like schooling fish do, but they love bunching up with their own kind. They are social fish. If she's female, watch out for her getting bigger as she may already be pregnant, potentially more free fish :)

It is a wagtailed platy. The particular color is more a case of common nomenclature than genetics. It is showing what I would call a sunset pattern rather than any other that I am familiar with.
